Sunday, August 3rd saw turf professionals from across the region gather at the scenic Oulton Park Cricket Club for the much-anticipated Cheshire Grounds Seminar, hosted by the Cheshire Association of Groundsmen.
Despite a drizzly start, the enthusiasm was unmistakable. Attendees - from experienced grounds managers to those new to the profession – came prepared for a full day of learning, sharing, and hands-on exploration under the banner of Discover, Learn & Grow.
The seminar featured expert-led talks and live demonstrations, offering practical insights into current turf management challenges and opportunities. As the skies cleared, guests were able to get hands-on with a wide range of industry-leading equipment.
Dennis and SISIS were proud to be part of the event, with Ben Lloyd on hand to speak with grounds professionals and demonstrate solutions focused on consistent performance, quality, and serviceability. Ben showcased key practices including cylinder mowing, scarification, and cricket square renovation and highlighted how the trusted engineering of Dennis and SISIS machinery supports grounds teams in delivering exceptional playing surfaces.

“Events like this are vital for the turf industry. They allow us to connect directly with those maintaining the surfaces, understand their day-to-day challenges, and show how our equipment can support them in doing their jobs more effectively,” Ben commented.
The day brought together an impressive line-up of industry partners, including the ECB, Grounds Management Association, Indigrow, DLF, Husqvarna, The Aquatrols Company, Campey Turf Care Systems, Cornthwaite Group – and, of course, Dennis and SISIS.
Conversations flowed freely – between old colleagues reconnecting and new professionals building their networks. The seminar embodied the collaborative spirit that drives progress in the turf care profession.
Attendees were well looked after throughout the day, with on-site catering ensuring time to refuel, reflect and recharge between sessions.
In all, the Cheshire Grounds Seminar once again demonstrated the value of regional events in promoting knowledge-sharing, professional development and community. For Dennis and SISIS, it was another opportunity to offer practical support, demonstrate reliable and professional machinery, and stay connected with the turf teams who rely on quality tools every day.
A sincere thank you to all who helped make the day such a success – even with the wet start.
